Roles for Your Rolls

Janet Groene’s
Bacon Bubble Bread

One package of store-bought rolls plays a dozen roles in your RV meal planning. And you don’t have to light the oven.
Make these gooey treats with bacon you cook yourself or with store-bought crumbles. Try different seasoning blends in the butter such as Italian,  ranch, Mrs. Dash, caraway, dill, your own blends. Melt a different cheese over the rolls each time: mozzarella, cheddar, Swiss, smoked gouda.  When any meal calls for hot rolls, pull out a package and let your creativity do the rest.

1 dozen brown-and-serve dinner rolls
1 stick butter, melted
1 tablespoon mixed seasoning
1 jar cooked, crumbled bacon (not imitation bacon bits)
6 to 8 ounces grated cheese

Melt butter in a 12-inch skillet. Swirl around to coat skillet.  Remove from heat. Stir in seasoning. Cut rolls in half and roll in melted butter, coating completely. Arrange in the pan and top with crumbled bacon. Cover and cook over low heat until browned on bottom and edges. Sprinkle  with cheese,  remove from heat and let stand, covered, until cheese melts. Makes 24 pieces.
